Most think an Android box, is just a novelty item, allowing you to watch a movie every now and then. However; an Android box, when setup correctly, can save you money and alot of it!
In essence, an Android box is a computer that uses a version of Android as its operating system. It connects your TV to the Internet. Even if you have a “Smart TV”, an Android box is still an invaluable tool.
A “Smart TV” can access YouTube, Netflix and a few other apps, but these apps were approved by the big monopolies. These monopolies are only interested in making money, and as much as they can. On the other hand, an Android box can be programmed and customized to help you save money, and that’s what I want to show you, how to save some money.
Take a look at this, according to their website, Bell Canada charges $25 for their basic TV package. For that, you get a total of 25 channels, that most people don’t watch anyway. No sports, no movies and no specialty channels, just junk. In reality, most spend around $137 per month for TV to get what they want to see. For movies, you might want to get Netflix. You might be spending up to $20.99 per month depending on the package you choose. If you want to see any Disney+ content, add $10.99 per month. If you get either Netflix or Disney+, you’ll need a good internet service running to your house too. According to the Bell website, a 50 Mbps internet account is $155 per month. Bell offers a bundle with their TV service along with their Internet which they call, Fibe50, all for $180 per month, and that’s their special. That’s a grand total of $211.98 per month. Oh ya, don’t forget the government wants their part too, add the tax.
TVStreams.ca, gives you more, for way less. Every channel Bell offers and more, like channels from the UK, movie channels and all the sport channels you can think of. Also, all the content offered by Netflix and Disney+ including, Pay-per-View content, Crave, Paramount+, Hulu, HBO and more. All for less than $25 per month.
Now let’s talk about the quality of their internet. The Price mentioned above is for their Fibe50 bundle. This would give a speed of 50 Mbps down. Seems OK, but here is the truth. Bell Canada is notorious for “throttling”. Throttling is where an ISP regulates the download speed based on the content being downloaded, for example video. When I was with Bell as my ISP, I would download, quote unquote “legit” movies, and it would take on average, about 18 hours per movie. When I switched to Acanac, it took 20 minutes to download the same. Most internet speed test companies, like Speedtest.net, test only plain text. This may give you a score of about 50 Mbps, but it does not reflect video. Use Fast.com to see a true representation of your download speed. You may have notice, Fast.com is powered by Netflix. Not only does Bell throttle, they will only give you the maximum speed if you remain under their 450 GB per month data cap. When that happens your download speed is reduced to 20 Mbps and upload speed of 4 Mbps. And they call that their “Unlimited usage package”. Acanac charges $47 for the exact same speed Bell provides for $155 per month, but Acanac does not throttle and they are truly, unlimited. Now here’s the kicker, they use the exact same lines as Bell. Not only that but their special right now is $27. No, I am not affiliated with them and make no money off them. If you live in Tweed, Village Net/Norther Rural Net is an excellent choice too. If you are stuck with Xplorenet, who also throttles, you may want a VPN. A VPN will hide your online activity from your ISP.
So here we are, $211.98 with Bell, or TVStreams + Acanac for $52 (or less), it’s your call.
For a good VPN, just google, VPN.
To wrap it all up, get yourself an Android box, either from me, Amazon or anywhere else then get TVStreams and start saving your money.
